Try your skills at pie eating contests, three legged races, bucket races, and egg toss. Come early to participate in the parade and stay late to relax in the plaza while enjoying patriotic music and activities. Celebrating the West on the Move;     
150th Anniversary of the arrival of the Overland Mail

Special Friday evening fundraising event (Limited Reserved Seating), including music, entertainment, and food inspired by historic recipes. Saturday will begin with a parade down San Diego Ave followed by an historic reenactment of the arrival of the Overland Mail. Grand re-opening of the Seeley Museum and exhibits. Live animals, wagon rides, living history activities, and historic wagon displays will celebrate  life in San Diego during the 1800s.

Fiesta de San Diego/ Mexican Independence Day
Old Town San Diego’s cultural history comes alive with a celebration of Mexico’s independence from Spain in 1821. Musical guests and dancers will showcase the cultural influences as Alta California transitioned from Spain’s control to Mexican independence. Music, dancing, food, and other entertainment. Public Lands Day
Learn how Public Lands were created as California developed into the 31st state in the Union. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and California State Parks will create a land office of the 1850s and to share information with park visitors about California acquisition, preservation, natural resources, and antique survey equipment. No need to cross the border to celebrate the annual Hispanic holiday - the Bazaar del Mundo honors Dias de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with an exhibition of elaborately-decorated altars of sugar skulls and traditional handmade papier-mâché, wood and terra cotta decorations.

'Tis the season for giving! San Diegans can spread some holiday cheer by participating in the Bazaar del Mundo's annual Toys for Tots toy drive throughout November. A donation box will be displayed in the Bazaar's courtyard where guests can drop off new, unwrapped toys for kids and teens - and then peruse the shops for some early Christmas shopping!

Bazaar Del Mundo

May 2-4, Cinco de Mayo -
Diane Powers launched Old Town San Diego's first Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Bazaar del Mundo in 1983, and the popular celebration of Mexican culture has grown into one of today's largest Cinco de Mayo fiestas in America.
Cinco revelers can enjoy authentic Mexican food, a "Margarita Garden" featuring the signature "Cincorita," mariachi music and folkloric dance performances at The Bazaar del Mundo Shops and Casa Guadalajara in Old Town, and Casa de Pico Restaurant in La Mesa.

June 27 and 28, Art in Fashion Marketplace -
Art and fashion meet in the Bazaar del Mundo's vibrant courtyard with a stunning showcase of one-of-a-kind clothing, jewelry and accessories from the Bazaar's top designers and artists from throughout Southern California and the Southwest. Local fashionistas will flock to this don't-miss shopping destination.

Diane Powers' annual festival presents one of the nation's most extensive collections of authentic Mexican folk art, traditional clothing and textiles, colorful collectibles and dazzling jewelry, plus entertainment and Mexican cuisine. Guest artisans from Chihuahua, Mexico will be in attendance, creating eye-popping Mata Ortiz pottery, a centuries-old art form renowned for its hand-painted geometric and ancestral symbols.
